ABOUT MIKE

Mike Smith is a lifelong Delawarean. He was raised in the nearby Pike Creek area by his grandmother, Barbara Smith. As a kid, Mike attended Pike Creek Christian School and played baseball at Midway Little League. After graduating from Wilmington Christian School, Mike received his B.A. from the University of Delaware where he was a member of the Mortar Board National Honor Society. Mike later received a Masters in Public Administration from U.D.
Mike has been married for five years to the love of his life, Christy, and they have a three year old son, Braedon. They're anxiously awaiting the birth of Braedon's new brother or sister later this year.
For the last 3 years, Mike has been working to help bring new business and jobs to our area as the Executive Director of the Greater Newark Economic Development Partnership. The Partnership is a joint venture of the University of Delaware, City of Newark, and New Castle County Chamber of Commerce. While leading the Partnership, Mike worked with local companies to help them expand and to recruit new and innovative companies to the Greater Newark area.
Earlier in his career, Mike worked in several roles for former Congressman Mike Castle, and for corporations in the private sector. Mike is also the chairman of Pike Creek Charter School, serves on the Business Advisory Committee of the Christina School District, is a member of the UD PCS Advisory Committee, and serves on the Marketing Committee of the Newark Senior Center.
Mike, Christy, Barbara, Braedon, and their dog Bruiser, live in Pike Creek.
